This 1920's home on Madison's near west side aptly nick-named, "The Jewel Box" for its built in features and unique craftsmanship, called for thoughtful design, specific product selection and a curator's eye for what should stay and what should go.

Clients Matt and Emily worked with us to achieve the desired effect. The kitchen was expanded by moving an adjacent powder room to the end of the house. This added much needed kitchen space and more natural light.

A previous project on this home was a rustic lower level bar. It was decided early on that the floor tile would not be removed. This led the design toward a fun upbeat space that retained the warmth and charm of the original home. A door to the laundry area was moved down, allowing the bar to tuck into a corner and the seating arrangement to fit nicely in front of the fire place. During remodeling the original plans for the house were found in the basement ceiling beams - so cool!
